TESTIMONIALS
"My first session was pre-lockdown and I was a little anxious beforehand. I wanted to meet new people as I am relatively new to the local area. What I enjoy now is that it is a consistent social activity and all the guys who turn up are spot on. It's also a good opportunity to talk about mental health if I ever needed to speak out." - Oliver Ryan
"My first session was back in March time just before the lockdown period. I had seen a post advertising Kick Start FC on Facebook and thought I would give it a try. I have always enjoyed playing football and the guys who turn up are a good laugh I have enjoyed coming to the sessions. It’s also a great way to speak out if you have anything on your mind. I would totally recommend it." - Rob Yates

How do I talk about my mental health?
Putting your feelings into words is sometimes difficult. It’s perfectly normal to be worried that you might say the wrong thing or explain it badly. It’s also natural to feel anxious that your loved one or friend might think your mental health is worse than you might feel it is.
Try not to worry – talking about your mental health is incredibly important when it comes to getting the right support for you and with the right preparation the conversation can be easier than you think it might be. Here are a few tips on how to talk about your mental health.

KICK START FC CELEBRATE ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL YEAR
Wednesday 10th December 2025
Last weekend, we proudly hosted our third annual Kick Start FC End of Year Awards – a night dedicated to celebrating the incredible achievements and journeys of our service users. This special event isn't just about recognition; it's about honouring resilience, personal growth, and the transformative power of community support. The evening brought together service users, volunteers, and supporters for a memorial celebration of the progress made over the past year. From inspiring stories of determination to milestones reached, it was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when people are given the right guidance and encouragement.
This year we celebrated achievements across a variety of categories, each highlighting the unique contributions and success of service users and volunteers. Among the awards presented were:
-
Attendance Of The Year - celebrating consistency, commitment and dedication all year long.
-
Service User Of The Year - Honouring outstanding achievement, growth, and determination.
-
Volunteer's Service User Of The Year - Recognising those who have shone brightest in the eyes of our volunteers.
-
Fundraising Of The Year - Celebrating incredible effort and impact in supporting our cause.
-
Volunteer Of The Year - Acknowledging exceptional dedication, passion, and contribution to our community.
The winners of each category truly exemplified the values of Kick Start FC:
The awards night was filled with laughter, applause, and heartfelt moments. Every service user's journey was a testament to the dedication, hard work, and resilience fostered by the Kick Start FC community. It was a reminder that every step forward, no matter how small, is worth celebrating.
Congratulations to all our winners and nominees - your achievements inspire us all. We look forward to another year of growth, opportunity, and shared success.
