TESTIMONIALS
"My first session was pre-lockdown and I was a little anxious beforehand. I wanted to meet new people as I am relatively new to the local area. What I enjoy now is that it is a consistent social activity and all the guys who turn up are spot on. It's also a good opportunity to talk about mental health if I ever needed to speak out." - Oliver Ryan
"My first session was back in March time just before the lockdown period. I had seen a post advertising Kick Start FC on Facebook and thought I would give it a try. I have always enjoyed playing football and the guys who turn up are a good laugh I have enjoyed coming to the sessions. It’s also a great way to speak out if you have anything on your mind. I would totally recommend it." - Rob Yates

How do I talk about my mental health?
Putting your feelings into words is sometimes difficult. It’s perfectly normal to be worried that you might say the wrong thing or explain it badly. It’s also natural to feel anxious that your loved one or friend might think your mental health is worse than you might feel it is.
Try not to worry – talking about your mental health is incredibly important when it comes to getting the right support for you and with the right preparation the conversation can be easier than you think it might be. Here are a few tips on how to talk about your mental health.

HOME TACKLING THE MIND

Test Valley Volunteer Star
Award 2026
We are delighted to announce that the volunteers of Kick Start FC have been recognised with a Test Valley Volunteer Star Award 2026.
The award was presented to representatives of Kick Start FC by Deputy CEO Wendy Masterson and recognises the outstanding contribution our volunteers make to the local community through their dedication, passion, and commitment to helping others.
We are especially grateful to our valued partners, Go Fudge Yo'self, who nominated us for this award. Their support and recognition mean a great deal to everyone involved with the club.
At Kick Start FC, our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Whether they are coaching sessions, organising activities, supporting participants, helping behind the scenes, fundraising, or ensuring events run smoothly, their efforts make a real and lasting difference to the lives of the people we support.
This award is a testament to the countless hours our volunteers give freely to create opportunities, build confidence, promote wellbeing, and strengthen community connections across Andover and the surrounding area. Their enthusiasm and commitment help make Kick Start FC the welcoming and inclusive organisation it is today.
We would like to thank every single volunteer who gives their time, energy, and expertise to support our mission. This recognition belongs to all of you.

As we celebrate this achievement, we are always keen to welcome new volunteers to our growing team. Whether you can offer a few hours each month or would like to become more regularly involved, there are many ways to make a positive impact.
Volunteering with Kick Start FC is a rewarding opportunity to support your local community, develop new skills, meet like-minded people, and help us continue delivering our programmes and activities.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch through our website or contact us directly to find out more about the opportunities available.
Together, we can continue making a difference in our community.
