TESTIMONIALS
"My first session was pre-lockdown and I was a little anxious beforehand. I wanted to meet new people as I am relatively new to the local area. What I enjoy now is that it is a consistent social activity and all the guys who turn up are spot on. It's also a good opportunity to talk about mental health if I ever needed to speak out." - Oliver Ryan
"My first session was back in March time just before the lockdown period. I had seen a post advertising Kick Start FC on Facebook and thought I would give it a try. I have always enjoyed playing football and the guys who turn up are a good laugh I have enjoyed coming to the sessions. It’s also a great way to speak out if you have anything on your mind. I would totally recommend it." - Rob Yates

How do I talk about my mental health?
Putting your feelings into words is sometimes difficult. It’s perfectly normal to be worried that you might say the wrong thing or explain it badly. It’s also natural to feel anxious that your loved one or friend might think your mental health is worse than you might feel it is.
Try not to worry – talking about your mental health is incredibly important when it comes to getting the right support for you and with the right preparation the conversation can be easier than you think it might be. Here are a few tips on how to talk about your mental health.

HOME TACKLING THE MIND

Celebrating success at
our End Of Year Awards
Last weekend, we proudly hosted our third annual Kick Start FC End Of Year Awards, bringing together service users, volunteers, supporters, and members of our community for an evening dedicated to celebrating achievement, resilience, and personal growth.
The awards evening has become one of the highlights of the Kick Start FC calendar. More than simply recognising accomplishments, it provides an opportunity to celebrate the incredible journeys of the individuals who make up our community and acknowledge the determination, courage, and commitment they have shown throughout the year.
For many of our service users, the past twelve months have been a journey of overcoming challenges, building confidence, improving wellbeing, and taking positive steps forward. The awards ceremony gave us the opportunity to reflect on these achievements and recognise the progress that has been made, both on and off the pitch.

This year's awards celebrated success across a variety of categories, highlighting the dedication and contributions of both service users and volunteers.
The awards presented included:
Attendance of the Year
Recognising consistency, commitment, and dedication throughout the year.
Service User of the Year
Celebrating outstanding achievement, personal growth, resilience, and determination.
Volunteer's Service User of the Year
Awarded to the individual who has made a particularly positive impression on our volunteer team through their attitude, effort, and progress.
Fundraiser of the Year
Recognising exceptional commitment to supporting Kick Start FC and helping us continue our work within the community.
Volunteer of the Year
Celebrating the dedication, passion, and invaluable contribution of those who give their time to support others.
Each winner embodied the values that sit at the heart of Kick Start FC — positivity, perseverance, community, and support for others.

The evening was filled with laughter, applause, and plenty of emotional moments as participants reflected on their journeys and celebrated one another's achievements.
What made the event particularly special was the opportunity to recognise not only award winners, but everyone who has been part of the Kick Start FC community throughout the year. Every individual who attends our sessions, volunteers their time, raises funds, supports events, or encourages others contributes to the positive environment we strive to create.
Throughout the evening, stories were shared that highlighted the life-changing impact of community support, friendship, and opportunity. These moments served as a powerful reminder that progress comes in many forms and that every step forward, no matter how big or small, deserves to be recognised and celebrated.

As we reflect on another successful year, we are incredibly proud of everything our service users, volunteers, and supporters have achieved.
The End of Year Awards are a celebration of far more than trophies and certificates. They represent confidence gained, friendships formed, challenges overcome, and lives positively impacted through the power of community and connection.
Congratulations to all of our winners, nominees, and everyone who has been part of the Kick Start FC journey over the past year. Your achievements continue to inspire us all.
We look forward to building on this success and creating even more opportunities for growth, support, and shared achievement in the year ahead.
