How do I talk about my mental health?
Putting your feelings into words is sometimes difficult. It’s perfectly normal to be worried that you might say the wrong thing or explain it badly. It’s also natural to feel anxious that your loved one or friend might think your mental health is worse than you might feel it is.
Try not to worry – talking about your mental health is incredibly important when it comes to getting the right support for you and with the right preparation the conversation can be easier than you think it might be. Here are a few tips on how to talk about your mental health.

Zero Suicide Alliance Suicide Awareness Course
Monday 14th March 2022
Zero Suicide Alliance (ZSA) have developed a fantastic Suicide Awareness Course that teaches you the skills and knowledge you need to have a potentially life-saving conversation with a family member, friend, colleague of even a stranger in the street.
Scenarios, real life stories and resources will help guide you through what to do, should the situation arise.
This course takes 20 minutes to complete and is FREE of charge. Everyone should be encouraged to take part in this awareness course.
"It's time to break the stigma around talking about suicide. We can all play our part by learning the skills and the knowledge to have these important conversations and spot the warning signs in the people around us."

This course is available to anyone but is recommended for anyone aged 16 or over.
Within the course you will learn:
. How to spot suicide warning signs
. How to have a conversation with someone you're worried about
. Where to signpost to for further support
. Suicide is preventable
