TESTIMONIALS
"My first session was pre-lockdown and I was a little anxious beforehand. I wanted to meet new people as I am relatively new to the local area. What I enjoy now is that it is a consistent social activity and all the guys who turn up are spot on. It's also a good opportunity to talk about mental health if I ever needed to speak out." - Oliver Ryan
"My first session was back in March time just before the lockdown period. I had seen a post advertising Kick Start FC on Facebook and thought I would give it a try. I have always enjoyed playing football and the guys who turn up are a good laugh I have enjoyed coming to the sessions. It’s also a great way to speak out if you have anything on your mind. I would totally recommend it." - Rob Yates

How do I talk about my mental health?
Putting your feelings into words is sometimes difficult. It’s perfectly normal to be worried that you might say the wrong thing or explain it badly. It’s also natural to feel anxious that your loved one or friend might think your mental health is worse than you might feel it is.
Try not to worry – talking about your mental health is incredibly important when it comes to getting the right support for you and with the right preparation the conversation can be easier than you think it might be. Here are a few tips on how to talk about your mental health.

TESTIMONIALS
We encourage regular feedback from those who attend Kick Start FC to help us achieve our charitable aims and to ensure we are meeting the expectations we have set for our service users.

"Kick Start FC has been amazing and has helped me in so many ways. It has allows me to get out of the house, do something fun, and give myself a bit of escapism. The open discussions on mental wellbeing gives me a place where I don't feel alone. I am so grateful for the people I have met and for the friends I have made along the way."

"I have definitely felt that I am now more able to talk about my mental health - particularly when I am at work. Kick Start FC is something that I can look forward to each week. It gives me an outlet for my mental health, whether that is to losing myself within the session or to just talk and listen to others. It has also given me the opportunity to play football despite getting on in years."

"Kick Start FC is great! Everyone is friendly and supportive. It's good to get out and get some fresh air and blow off steam whilst at the same time getting a bit of much needed exercise. As my football skills (non existent) improve so does my confidence"

"I have genuinely loved attending every single session. It has made me realise that what I considered to be normal thoughts and feelings, was actually a mental health issue. Football therapy has shown me ways to cope with this, helped me to meet new people who have become great friends, and has given me a support network; all while playing a game I really enjoy."

"I would highly recommend kick start FC to anyone and everyone. My life has changed for the better since going to their ladies football sessions and I couldn’t be more thankful to the team. I was so nervous going to the first session on my own, but everyone is so welcoming and friendly. It’s like having a second family, and I know I always have someone to talk to if I need to. The football therapy sessions are always full of laughs, and it's a great 'pick me up'. Give it a go you won’t regret it!"
