MEET THE TEAM

MEET MICHAEL - Founder Of Kick Start FC

"In schools we learn about our Physical Health but we fail to learn about our Mental Health. It is important that people understand how they can manage their own mental wellbeing and have an outlet or a support network when things become difficult.

That is why I created Kick Start FC. The more we can educate people and encourage people to talk about their mental health, the more we help eradicate the stigma that attaches itself to the subject.

Kick Start FC won't cure poor mental health, but we will certainly kick start your journey to tackling the mind."

MEET JESSICA - Social Media & Administrator

"Supporting Michael in this venture was obvious and as someone who has battled with their own mental health, as well as watching loved ones go through something similar, I knew this was a great cause to support and educate others.

I have seen the amazing feedback that Kick Start FC has already received and the outlet it has offered to many people. I have good social media skills so I will be using them to help drive more awareness, The inboxes across all platforms are always open for questions, support, and advice so please feel free to reach out to us.

Keep an eye on our social media pages for more updates and discussions."

MEET ANDREA - Events & Wellbeing Co-Ordinator

"I wanted to join Kick Start FC because I feel that now more than ever, mental health needs to be spoken about. I have recently discovered the statistics behind the suicide rates here in the UK and what I learned was absolutely shocking. It is apparent that something needs to be put in place to tackle these statistics.

I'll admit that I have no real interest in football, but raising awareness of mental health is something I can really get on board with. I'm looking forward to meeting new people and shining a light on mental health issues that so many people face on a daily basis."

MEET ADONIS - Events & Wellbeing Co-Ordinator

"Kick Start FC is an awesome charity aiming to support everyday people with their mental health. Over the past year I have watched this project grow and become a real talking point within the local community and I wanted to get involved and support the long term vision that has been laid out.

I Will be looking to add my experience in event planning to help coordinate upcoming events for Kick Start FC and to raise awareness to the best of my ability in order to encourage people to open up about their mental health.

Kick Start FC is a self-funded organisation so our fundraising events are just as important as our wellbeing events so please continue to show the fantastic support that has been received already."

MEET BEN - Football Sessions

"I started attended the Kick Start FC sessions in order to meet people who shared similar experiences as me because for a very long time I thought I was alone. Upon joining the sessions I realised that there were so many other people in the same boat as me, and the reason I never realised this is because I feel that Mental Health is not talked about enough. To me, the Kick Start FC sessions were a safe haven where I could go along and share my issues without the fear of judgement.

I decided to join the team as I want to promote and raise awareness for Mental Health so that people like me do not feel alone. The work done so far by Kick Start FC has been amazing, and I want to be able to help push the message even further that no one should suffer in silence, feel alone and that there are people out there who can help."

MEET SHAUN - Football Sessions

"I became a member of the Kick Start FC team because I previously had a life changing event, and as part of that process I learned that staying silent instead of talking was a mistake.

I hope that by being part of this amazing team I can encourage participation for all and help drive the conversations needed. By doing this I hope to help throw out the stigma that attaches itself to the subject of mental health.

Mental Health can affect people of all ages, it doesn't discriminate, and I feel that it is important for people of all ages to look after their mental wellbeing."

MEET SUZANNA - Events & Wellbeing Co-Ordinator

"I first got in touch with Kick Start FC following their plea for volunteers on social media. I am a Veteran and have worked with fellow Veterans with regards to their own mental health issues.

After learning more about Kick Start FC I thought this would be a great opportunity for me to support others outside the military community. I now work in a Human Resources role and have a wide range of skills that I will be looking to use to benefit the public such as CV writing skills and job applications.

I will be looking to help with anything job related and continue the mission but in place by Kick Start FC or raising awareness and helping people tackle the mind.
