ABOUT KICK START FC
Founded in 2020 Kick Start FC was created with the purpose of 'Tackling The Mind'. We are a voluntary organisation that is self-funded and by using the power of football we aim to support those in the local community who may be experiencing mental health issues. We also aim to raise awareness and understanding to support the drive that poor mental health is not a sign of weakness or a taboo subject. To help with our mission, we host weekly football sessions FREE of charge where both men and women over the age of 16 are able to get active and play football with likeminded people.
Football is the most popular sport, not only here in the UK, but worldwide, with there being an estimated 3.5 billion football fans around the globe. Football has that special ability to bring people together and is often seen as the conversation starter amongst men which is better known as "the common ground". Not only that, football has various outlets such as TV, Social Media, Community Groups, Fanzines, Podcasts and we are looking to use those tools to help with our mission to encourage those who are currently sat in silence to open up and talk about their own mental health issues and to get active to help manage their symptoms.
Our sessions are specifically designed to do the following:
. Encourage participants to get active and regain fitness
. Develop a positive mindset and increase confidence levels
. Improve social inclusion and help social skills
. Gain a sense of achievement and a lift in morale
. Offer an encouraging environment to participants
. To allow participants to have fun and and an outlet
We always encourage feedback so we can monitor progress, click here to read what people are saying about Kick Start FC
